Global Writing Instruments Player Expands Use of Business Discovery Platform Across all Departments in International Deployment
Limitations of a Standard ERP Architecture
Pilot markets its products in more than one hundred countries, and like any business, must closely follow the performance of its sales channels. Equipped with a long-time ERP system that integrates all its sales data, the company's most pressing priority was to break down the value of sales and define rules of management according to accurate analysis results. To meet this need, Pilot's IT team created a decision model based on a multidimensional cube structure.
This system, which retrieved data and analyzed it in Excel, soon showed its limitations: no dynamic graphical retrieval and a lack of connections between data, implementation of new data sources, or new analysis filters. These weaknesses proved costly for Pilot, prompting its finance department to look for a global solution that could deliver tangible results quickly.
Benefits of Dynamic Analysis
Taking data directly from the Pilot ERP, QlikView provides a dynamic view of company sales. It is now possible for users to view overall sales by type of product, by country, and by customer in real time. Pilot users can now create analyses mid-month and view sales with the control panel gauges instead of waiting for month-end reports.
"QlikView allows you to change the axis of analysis and therefore
process an idea in transit. The criteria for analysis are automatically
propagated from one tab to another," said Patrick Forveille, Corporate
Services Manager in
The QlikView interface has been highly efficient at distributing information. Available analysis is accessible to all within a specified framework. Daily reports are extracted in PDF format and the export to Excel function is highly intuitive. Finally, where the basic data is sound and the project scoping has firmly established management rules, QlikView delivers rich and reliable results.
Going forward, Pilot intends to extend QlikView to the supply chain (indicators, stock monitoring) and HR. The company also wants to consolidate sales data from additional European countries.
